Fun Family Finds – Week of August 3, 2020
Paradise Springs – This little hidden gem is located near Eagle Wisconsin, about 35 miles southwest of Milwaukee. It’s a bit of a drive but worth a detour if it’s sort of on your way somewhere or if you don’t mind car rides. It’s a short and easy hike (less than a mile) and is beyond gorgeous. There’s a spring-fed lake (pond?) and the ruins of the spring house are so fun to explore. About half of the trail is paved and the other half is muddy, so plan ahead if you want to walk the whole loop.
Bear Paw Adventure Island – my big kids (13 & 15) LOVED this place. There’s an inflatable obstacle course on a man-made lake (no fish!). They spent a couple of hours climbing and jumping and balancing and falling while a friend and I sat at the beach and enjoyed the sunshine. There’s a small family beach and playground for the littles and a decent concession stand for lunch (only water is allowed for carry-ins). It was clean, safe and we had no problems practicing social distancing.
Creamy Sausage Pasta – a meal that every single member of my family will willingly eat (as long as I skip the mushrooms and serve the arugula on the side). Super easy and a huge favorite with the kids. Everyone who has tried it has loved it!
Mask Hack! Do you or your kids struggle with your masks touching your mouth? These little inserts have been a life-saver! They’re made of soft, bendable plastic and they sit comfortably on top of your mouth and nose — your mask holds them in place. I’m also really liking these neck gaiters – they’re not as hot as my knit cotton mask and I can take it on and off easily without touching my face (super handy when photographing outdoors). I do wonder if the fabric is thick enough to work?
Portrait Day – the most fun of all! 🙂 Join me on August 28, 29 & 30 for complimentary kids-only mini sessions. I hope to see you there!
